Welcome to my website!

I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography at the Maxwell School of Syracuse University. Previously I was a faculty member in the Department of Geography at King’s College London (2006-2008). I completed my PhD in Geography from the University of Minnesota in 2007. I have a BA (Honors) in Geology and Environmental Studies from Princeton University (1996) and an MA in Geography from University of Minnesota (1998). I am broadly interested in nature-society relationships, development studies, feminist theories, and water resources management. My research has focused on gender, class and development implications of arsenic contamination of groundwater in Bangladesh as well as on urban water governance and water rights. I have conducted research in Bangladesh for several years on a variety of environment-development topics. I was a Programme Officer at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Bangladesh between 1998-2001.
